Grok Bot: getting started and creating your first Bot

Updated 2026-10-14

What Grok Bot is

According to the official overview, Grok Bot gives you persistent “Bots”: AI teammates with names, jobs and context that builds up over time. Each one works on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, filesystem and terminal. You talk to a Bot by messaging it (typing, dictation or voice chat), from desktop apps (macOS, Windows, Linux) or mobile apps (iPhone, iPad, Android).

What you need

Steps

  1. Install the desktop app from the downloads page (Apple silicon/Intel on macOS; x64/Arm64 on Windows and Linux; Linux offers .deb, .rpm or AppImage).
  2. Sign in with your Cursor account in the browser window that opens. If your access comes from SuperGrok, link it when the app asks.
  3. Create a Bot: pick a suggested teammate, or choose Create your own and give it a short name, one primary job, and a description of how it should work. The docs recommend focused Bots over one catch-all Bot.
  4. Give it a first task. A strong request covers the outcome, sources, constraints, deliverable and review point.
  5. Sign in to tools when asked: choose Take over, enter your credentials yourself, then I’m done. Supported services can also be connected as plugins from Connect apps.
  6. Review and refine. State any lasting preferences, then ask the Bot to save a stable process as a skill or routine.

A safe first task (from the docs)
